Hi, again,
I quickly want to say thank you so much to those of you who have subscribed and especially to those of you who have opted to pay! Of the paying customers, I recognized most of your names and it was/is very kind of you. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Just a couple of quick explainers about this project, Resume Gap, the first chapter of which I’m posting below.
1.    I started it in 2019, and so therefore, it takes place in 2019. Therefore, my kids are much younger in it, the pandemic hasn’t happened yet(!), etc. and so on.
2.    The first chapter is short, so I’m opting to post it in its entirety for both paid and unpaid subscribers. (Not sure what I’ll do with Chapter Two yet.)
3.    Though I have about 115 pages, I abandoned this project sometime in early 2021 when I got an idea for a novel that felt more promising to me. And well, in the interest of not driving myself crazy and also the theme of this Substack (losing, letting go), I’m really trying to just post this thing AS IS. The topic—the crucial and yet unpaid work of mothering/parenting—feels evergreen though.
4.    I don’t love downloading more apps, but I do think this will be easier to read on the Substack app. I actually think it’s easiest to read on a desktop or within your email because you can zoom in on the small text. That’s it! Thank you!
i love this so much xx
When I got to the first spacious bedroom I was like omg her room is so nice! She has a vision board? Lol (but do you). The stack of books on your bedside brings me such comfort, for what it’s worth. Also love those pictures of people sleeping!! 👌💞
